Family Focus

Helping Parents to help themselves

About Us

Family Focus has been established since 1996, although the foundations for the group were first made about 25 years ago. It was established to protect and preserve the mental and physical health of families with children under five years of age by educating, advising and assisting parents.  Our staff, Management Committee and volunteers are fully committed to the continuation of the group and its benefits to children and parents in the area.

The service is consumer-led and has been developed as a direct response to parents continued requests for such support.  It places emphasis on the need for vital support to be provided to parents at an early stage of difficulties thus preventing further deterioration of their circumstances.   The Children and Young People’s Plan states that there is a need for more preventative work to be done for children and families and we can provide such a service for local families in need of help.

Our aims are to:

Work alongside parents, particularly those who are socially or economically disadvantaged, to develop the whole range of family life skills in order to meet their individual needs and those of their children in the interest of improving their quality of life; work towards the furtherance of quality opportunities for parents and children on a non-discriminatory basis, meeting their differing needs, both physical and mental, whilst taking into account their ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds
